Why I Love My Thinktank Airport 2 Carry-on Camera Bag

camera bagI’ve always heard good feedback about Think Tank products but never had the chance to get my hands on one. And since, I accepted the offer to cover a destination wedding event in a different city I need to travel and bring lots of equipment. The camera bags I own at that time aren’t big enough for all the equipment I plan to bring and so I decided to buy a new camera bag.

I asked my fellow photographer surrey wedding photographer for advice and read some reviews until finally I found my ideal camera bag – the ThinkTank Airport Security 2 Rolling Camera Bag! The bag, in my opinion, is the best camera bag I ever had.  It exceeded my expectations and I would never hesitate to recommend it to other professional photographers.

Here are some of the reasons why I love my ThinkTank Airport 2:

  1. Easy to carry and fit in

ThinkTank Airport 2 Rolling Camera bag meets the requirements of most domestic and international airports for carry-ons. The bag weighs only between 12 to 14 lbs. with a dimension of 14” x 22” x 9”. Most airlines will allow you to hand carry a bag with this size although you still need to check with the particular airline before doing so.

  1. Large and spacious

The camera bag looks small from the outside but is very large and spacious inside. I was able to fit in my primary camera body and my 2 backups, 3 lenses, 1 tripod, 1 laptop, 1 flash, small items like memory cards, battery packs, and other accessories. I was really amazed because even when I’m done packing I still have extra space to add items.

  1. Numerous compartments

The numerous compartments inside my ThinkTank bag made it easier for me to organize small items so they are organized and secured. The dividers are also padded and reinforced for added strength. None of my cameras and accessories got broken or damaged since they are separated individually.

  1. Combination lock and security cable

Since we invested a lot in buying our equipment, we need to make sure they are secure from theft. My Thinktank Airport 2 Bag has a combination lock which means no other people can open it. I feel relaxed knowing that my pricey gears are safeguarded. My friend, wedding photographer essex, also feels the same way.

Moreover, it has a security cable on the rear side that allows you to securely attach your bag to an immovable object like a post. This implies that nobody can snatch the camera bag if you want to leave it someplace while covering an event.

  1. Water resistant with seam-sealed rain cover and replaceable wheels

ThinkTank Airport 2.0 bag also has a seam-sealed cover and external water-resistant covering so you can be assured that your equipment don’t get wet from rain or water. The skate style wheels are also replaceable and when I purchased the bag I got a free kit containing extra wheels which I can use when wheels wear out.

  1. Front pocket organizer

The front pocket organizer allowed me to place my memory cards, charger, and other small items neatly inside the bag. I don’t have to fumble to look for things inside the bag since I can see each one right away.

  1. Cable and lock for laptops

My laptop is secured in place because the bag has a cable and lock that keeps the laptop in place during the travel. You can be assured that your laptop won’t get damaged by shakes or thuds during the travel.

There are still a lot of other wonderful features that ThinkTank can offer you. Check out their website to know the other features. For sure, you will be thrilled to get one of these ThinkTank Airport 2 Camera bag!

My Mate Wants Me to Photograph his Wedding on an iPhone – WHAT!

wedding photographyI got a call from a mate asking me to photograph his wedding. At first I was really excited since I’m a newbie in Wedding Photography and I’d really like to apply what I have learned over the past months. But then, when he suggested that I use my new iPhone 6 instead of my professional DSLR camera to cover the wedding, I was dumbstruck since I don’t think an iPhone is enough for the job.

My friend then said that they’ll have a primary wedding photographer to shoot during their wedding and he wants me to give iPhoneography a try. He knows how I love my iPhone and how I’ve been busily taking pictures using this incredible smart phone. He even saw some and was amazed at how fantastic the iPhone images look.

To those who are not aware yet, iPhoneography is coined after the words “iPhone” and “Photography”. It simply refers to taking pictures using Apple’s flagship smartphone “iPhone”. iPhoneography is slowly becoming popular among photo enthusiasts and even professional photographers like Wedding Photographer Birmingham. The latest products Apple released last 2014 are iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

I have my iPhone 6 for 3 months now and have been using it daily. I love the accessibility and ease of use that my iPhone 6 is offering. I studied and practiced taking pictures with it and so far I am enjoying the experience.

I know some of you got an iPhone so I will share with you some tips on how to best shoot and edit images using an iPhone. I plan to use it in covering my friend’s wedding.

  1. Use camera grid in setting up your shot

The camera grid can help you best position your camera so it is set at your desired angle. The lines in the grid will serve as your guide so you can plan where to position your subject.

  1. A tripod can be your best friend

Like in DSLR, you can use tripod to help reduce camera shake when taking pictures using your iPhone. The les s shake, the sharper pictures you produced.

  1. Get close with the subject

Unlike in DSLR where you can produce nice pictures even when you zoom in your lens, with the iPhone it is best to avoid zooming and get as close as you can to your subject instead. Zooming on an iPhone produces grainy and lesser quality images.

  1. Configure your iPhone’s camera settings

Have a look at the settings of your iPhone’s camera and configure it so the highest resolution images come out from it.

  1. Clean the lens regularly

Cleaning the lens of your iPhone can help you get sharper images instead of blurry, poor quality ones.

  1. Edit images using VSCO or similar apps.

There are several photo editing apps for smart phones that can assist you in making your photos look more creative and brilliant. Among the most widely used by iPhone users today is VSCO. This app has plenty great filters and photo effects that you’ll definitely like. Even the professional photographer of Newborn Photography Calgary uses this app.

I still have a lot of preparations and studying to make before my mate’s big day so I can cover it successfully. In the future, I might consider offering my clients the iPhoneography wedding service once I can make it perfect (or closer to it).

Is Traditional Wedding Photography Still Alive and Kicking?

traditional wedding photographyCouples looking for a photographer to cover their wedding usually get confused with the many wedding photography styles presented to them. They are not sure which one would best suit their wedding theme and location. A lot of questions pop into their minds. Should they go with the traditional style? Is it better to try today’s more popular reportage wedding photography? Or choose the less common artistic style?

Which One – Traditional, Reportage, High Fashion or Artistic?

When it comes to planning your wedding, you don’t only need to find the best wedding photographer, you also need to carefully choose the wedding photography style. Each wedding photographer has his or her own style in taking pictures. Some still stay with the traditional “classic” style, others opt for the more dramatic, natural photojournalistic style like this amazing Sussex wedding photographer. The rest favor the more vibrant, artistic photography style or another emerging wedding photography form. There are also brides who choose the modern or high fashion style because it is more visually appealing.

If you prefer to see more formal pictures of you, your guests and your family, the best style to choose is traditional wedding photography. Traditional wedding photography is the most commonly used style in the past. In this type of photography, the wedding photographer calls on the couple and the guests from time to time to direct what pose to do for a particular group shot. Some people find this invasive while others find it better so they can prepare themselves before the shots are taken.

Should You Choose Traditional?

Photographers have diverse opinions on whether traditional photography remains to be an efficient style in capturing precious moments during this occasion.  Before we decide on whether traditional wedding photography is still alive, let’s dig deeper first on what this traditional style is.

Traditional wedding photography is a form of photography where the photographers aim to shoot timeless looking images of the important moments during the wedding. The wedding photographer directs the couples and guests to make sure that each photo looks marvelous. He/she even sets up the places where group or family portraits will be taken even before the wedding starts. Time and advance planning are important for traditional photographers to get the photos they are aiming for.

Traditional wedding photos are usually formal couple or group portraits. You can rarely see candid shots in this style.

Is Traditional Wedding Photography Still Alive?

Yes it is still alive! Nowadays, traditional photographers are more flexible and open to making their photos less formal. They combine some candid shots and make the photos look more natural yet dramatic.

If you really want to look good in your photos but still want the pictures to show natural joy and excitement in the faces of you and your guests, it will be best to find a photographer whose style is a combination of traditional and photojournalistic. Most experienced photographers nowadays are versatile and can take the brilliant shots that you want.

Choose an experienced wedding photographer like essex wedding photographer who really knows what style is best to use for your wedding. Talk to your wedding photographer and ensure that you agree in everything and he knows what you expect to see in the wedding photos.

Everything You Need To Know About Devonshire Weddings But Were Afraid to Ask

When you are planning your devonshire  wedding it can sometimes feel like your wishes can become second to everyone else’s. You might have your heart set on daisies while your mother is pushing for roses. Maybe you love brown and pink for your bridesmaids dresses, but your maid of honor is pushing for red. This article should help give you some tips for making sure your wedding is YOUR day.

How your complexion looks is a major factor of the wedding as you will want to reduce the amount of blemishes that you have. You will experience anxiety, so combat this by drinking more water than you usually would. This will help to flush out the toxins in your body, giving your skin a natural glow.

If you have a lower budget for your wedding, don’t include flowers in your decorations. For centerpieces you can use branches you find on a walk in the forest, and surround the containers you put them in with stones from a nearby river or creek. Make a bouquet out of local plants and flowers for a locavore touch!

When selecting a makeup artist for your wedding, be sure to see the makeup that they have done in the past. It would certainly ruin your day to have you and your bridesmaids looking harsh in makeup that does not suit the colors or the styles you have chosen. Make sure you love it. You don’t want to be stuck with a bad makeup artist.

On the morning of your wedding, you will have to give yourself extra time to get dressed since you will want everything to look perfect. Plan to start getting ready at least an hour before you usually would to avoid rushing to get to your wedding. This will allow you to look your best.

Bring a pair of fold-up flats with you to a wedding so you can dance the night away without destroying your feet. The worst thing to have on your honeymoon is sore feet, so take care of them! Book yourself for a pedicure just before you leave on your trip and include waxing to make sure you’ll look super hot in your bikini!

Whether or not to invite children to your wedding is a delicate choice to have to make. You don’t want to offend your guests by saying they must come childless, or forcing them to find a babysitter. At the same time, you don’t want kids tearing around your reception or disrupting the ceremony. If you want to have kids there, give them something else to do or another room to play in.

DON’T forget to hire a professional photographer like this Devon Wedding Photographer – don’t trust those memories to anyone but a professional!

Consider creating a gift registry at your favorite store when you are getting married. Many time, guests will buy the couple gifts that they never or rarely use. By creating a gift registry, your guests can get you and your spouse gifts that you personally want and will actually get use out of.

As stated at the beginning of the article, while planning for your wedding, sometimes your wishes are met with resistance from loved ones. Although they mean well, it is important to remember that this is YOUR wedding day. Hopefully this article has given you some great tips for tactfully dealing with everyone’s input, while keeping your own wishes first.

WordPress for Photographers – 5 tips to optimize your site

5 WordPress Tips That Will Help You Optimize Your Photography Website

Optimization plays a significant role in all kinds of sites, but it’s especially important when it comes to WordPress, and even more important when that website is also hosting a lot of photographs. There are a number of things that can dramatically effect the speed of a WordPress based photography website, both for better and for worse, and in this article we look at a few of them.

Because of this, it’s important to do all you can to get your site optimize. Below, you’ll find five simple tips that will help you get your WordPress site in great shape.

1. Make sure the theme you choose is fast

A slow loading theme can cause a number of problems for your site. One of the things search engines look at is site load time, which means a slow-loading site won’t rank as highly. In addition, themes that load slowly are frustrating to users. Experiment with themes until you find one that works well.  Well known photography marketing site Photoproseo.com uses the Genesis Framework for their WordPress for Photographers training site – so we can assume this is one of the speedier themes given the response times of their website.

2. Don’t use too many plugins

WordPress plugins can be incredibly useful. However, too many of them can slow a site down. Make sure to get rid of any plugins your site doesn’t need.

3. Use a cache plugin

One type of plugin you do want to use is a cache plugin. These plugins can significantly reduce page load times, and are extremely easy to use. The most popular cache plugin on WordPress is W3 Total Cache, but there are a number of very good options.

4. Empty out your trash

When comments, posts, or images are deleted on WordPress, they automatically go to the trash system. This means content that was accidentally deleted can easily be restored, but it also means that deleted content can take up room on your site. Periodically empty out your trash so that your site doesn’t get clogged up.

5. Choose a good hosting plan

While there are many things you can do to optimize your WordPress site, some things will just come down to your host. Choosing a good hosting plan is crucial if you want to make sure your site is reliable and loads quickly.

Before signing up for a hosting plan, take the time to research available hosts. Read reviews and ask for recommendations. A good host is worth paying more for.

Optimizing your WordPress site is easy, but it’s also important. Take advantage of these tips and make sure that your site is the best it can be. You’ll be amazed at how much faster your site can load.
