The Excitement of Planning a Beach Wedding

beach weddingHave you ever wondered how it would be like to get married by the beach? Are you one of those engaged couples who dream of exchanging vows in a serene, romantic beach resort? Do you find this idea exciting and practical?

Well, the thought of a beach wedding surely gives thrill to many couples. It is one of the several options a future bride and groom discuss when planning or their wedding as soon as engagement is done. Some couples consider a beach wedding as more romantic and solemn than the traditional wedding setup we are used to having indoors. It is one good reason why they contemplate on having a beach wedding.

Public vs. Private

A couple can either choose a public or private beach resort as venue for their wedding. They can look for a resort near their location or find one in another city or country – it will be like a destination wedding. Public and private beach resorts vary in many aspects though.

In public resorts, there are often permits or documents that you need to obtain in order to be allowed to get married in that particular venue. While it may cost you less, a wedding in a public resort might give you less privacy especially if you choose a peak or busy season where other uninvited guests might peek or pry during the wedding. You have to decide carefully on when and which beach resort is best to choose.

In private resorts, you have the option of having the wedding ceremony outdoors followed by the reception or wedding party indoors. You can also choose to have both the ceremony and reception outdoors if the expected weather is fine. They can put up tents for you and your guests to take cover and feel more comfortable.

More Practical Option

Many people say that a beach wedding is a more practical option especially if you are on tight budget. It is somehow true but will still depend on how you plan your beach wedding. There are factors that can help you achieve your goal of spending less on a beach wedding. Among these are wedding decors, wedding resort venue, wedding professionals and number of guests.

Since it is a beach wedding, you can order fewer flowers and display less decors on the table and around the venue. The beach alone is a wonderful decoration and backdrop for wedding photography essex when the wedding photographer takes pictures of you and your spouse. You can also choose to limit the number of guests to make your wedding more private and exclusive and of course lessen the cost.

As for hiring wedding professionals, you can opt to hire local wedding professionals so you do not have to pay extra for their travel. You can choose a popular local food caterer or two staffordshire wedding photographers if you are in that region.

Amenities and Rates

There are beach resorts that offer wonderful amenities, lower rates especially during peak season and so much more. You only have to persevere in searching for great beach resorts online or by asking your friends and family. Compare the prices they are offering and consider also the accessibility when choosing the resort. It is best to choose one which won’t make you and your guests spend too much on transportation.

A beach wedding is without doubt an exciting and practical option to choose. You can make your beach wedding successful by carefully deciding on all major aspects that can affect it. Start planning early so there is still time to make changes when necessary.

Wedding Video Tips Worth Learning

wedding videographerAre you planning to take videos of a wedding anytime soon? Will it be your first time to do it? Well, if you are doing it for the first time, then you will need helpful advice and tips from the experts. Here are some of the tips we have gathered from the professional videographers we have talked to.

  1. Bring the right and necessary gear

When covering a wedding as a videographer, you need to bring the right equipment. There are video equipment that are affordable while there are high-end camcorders that offer sharper images and special features. A basic camcorder will do just fine as long as you study how to use it. Aside from the camcorder, you also need to bring a remote microphone, audio recorder, and external light source. Keep them inside a camera bag that is not too big so it won’t be difficult to move around.

  1. Check if the audio is working

Make sure that the external microphone attached to your camcorder or digital camera for video is working. Check also that the audio recorder is working and that it can really pick up sounds. Do the checking at least a day or two before the wedding so you can still fix any problem there might be.

  1. Discuss all the details with the client

You have to know all the important details of the wedding. When will the wedding start? What parts does your client expect to get recorded? What is the wedding theme or setup? Where is the exact location? You must get all important and correct information so there will be no misunderstanding or misinformation. Be open also to suggestions or requests from your clients. As long as the request is reasonable, then go ahead and oblige with it.

  1. Get an assistant

Try to get an assistant to help you during the wedding. He/she can help carry or secure your things so you have fewer items to carry. The assistant can also hold or use the spare camera or camcorder so more moments can be covered during the wedding.

  1. Befriend the photographer

It would be best if you are friends with the photographer reading so you can plan together what to shoot or cover and where to position yourselves to avoid blocking each other’s line of sight.

  1. Learn to handle low light situations

Depending on the location, you might encounter a low light situation that requires you to apply techniques to get the light you need. If you are expecting an indoor venue with possible low light, you need to use an external light source or adjust your camcorder or DSLR for video so more light can get in and your subject will be visible in the video. Even our Manchester Wedding Photographer always prepares for possible low light shooting.

  1. Remember to include the guests

You might get too focused on the couple that you forget to include the guests in your video. Keep in mind that the couple would love to see their dear guests in the video so make sure to include them when shooting. Do not forget also to take a video of the bride walking down the aisle to her groom. This is one of the most important moments of the wedding, hence make sure that the bride is within your sight at that time so you get a good shot of her.

  1. Prepare for the worst

No matter how you prepare, there are really times when something may go wrong. You can counter any possible problems though thinking what could possibly go wrong during the coverage. The weather might present some problems especially if it is an outdoor wedding. Be prepared for the rain or storm. Secure your things, wear the right clothes and bring some cover to avoid getting wet. Bring also an extra camera to use for taking other parts of the wedding as well as a backup in case your primary video equipment malfunctions.

Makeup Tips for Great Wedding Photographs

Makeup plays an important part in making sure the subject looks good on camera. This rings truer when it comes to weddings and wedding photography in particular. Considering that this is a once in a lifetime moment, the bride especially should have some exceptional makeup made on her face for best results.

Makeup artists have shared some important tips for that great makeup work to show in photos:

  1. Skin care is important

Great makeup starts with a good canvas, which in this case is the face itself. While makeup artists can work miracles, makeup can only go so far. What is more important is to take great care of the skin. Any quality makeup will look better on a face that’s healthy, hydrated, and well cared for. And it will show especially in the photos even with little makeup applied.

  1. Pay attention to the eyelashes

eye-881886_1280

Statistically, most women have never had false eyelashes before. But on a special occasion like a wedding, fake eyelashes are an essential to better highlight the eyes especially on photos. Applied correctly, the subject will look stunning in photos and will look more photogenic than ever.

  1. Don’t ignore the lips

Most take lip care for granted, but it is a very thing to do so. Dry lips or cracks are not good to see so a bit of work on the lips is needed. One can use a lipstick or a lip gloss.  Or if one is not fond of either product, one can use a lip balm to take care of those chapped lips.

  1. The eyebrows are just as important as the eyes

Most people tend to ignore the eyebrows. But if the eyes are the windows to the soul, the eyebrows are the curtains. Thus, the eyebrows greatly affect how one would look in the camera. Thus, it is important to do even a little bit of work on the eyebrows that will help one look more natural and pleasing especially to the camera. If one has not done work on the eyebrows before, it is recommended that a considerable amount of time be given in doing so for better results.

  1. Test out the makeup on camera

makeup-487063_1280

Even if quality products are used, not all makeup is meant for photos. It is therefore a recommended practice to test out on camera with a Manchester Wedding Photographer how the makeup that was done on the subject would look. It is also recommended that these would be done before the wedding so that any issues that may arise would be resolved early and that there can be more choices that can be made to achieve that perfect look

  1. Prepare everything by the big day

On the day of the wedding itself, the makeup routine should already be planned out. Whether one will do the makeup herself or hire a professional makeup artist, it is important that the type of makeup that will be used has already been determined through the testing as described in the previous step. Also, it is important to relax and get enough rest and sleep. Signs of anxiety or lack of rest or sleep will easily show on camera and it would adversely affect the quality of the face even with makeup applied. As a way to give oneself the favor and for the skin to have a natural glow in time for the big day, it is advised to be prepared, be well rested, and enjoy the day itself.

Choosing the Perfect Dress for Your Beach Wedding

wedding tipsIn weddings, the bride-to-be is expected to be the most excited person for the occasion. She looks forward to looking great in this very special event in her life. No doubt that looking for a wedding dress is among her top priorities since she wants to appear exquisite for her groom in their wedding.

Choosing the perfect wedding dress for your wedding is not easy though. Your choice will have to depend on several factors like the wedding location, your body shape, budget and wedding theme. A wedding dress that is suitable in an indoor church setting may not be appropriate for a beach wedding.

In traditional weddings, the bride will normally wear a ball gown or dress with a long train plus a wedding veil. But then, if you are planning to get married in a more different setting like on the beach, then you will have to choose a more suitable wedding dress.

Expect that in a beach setting, the weather can be sunny or rainy as well as windy. You might also be walking on the sand thus you will have to skip the long train for it will be difficult for you to move or walk on sand.

Below are several tips to help you choose the perfect dress for your beach wedding

  1. Choose an easy to carry, lightweight dress

If you will be traveling to get to the wedding location, you must consider a dress that is easy to carry. Fabrics like silk chiffon are a good choice since they don’t wrinkle too much when wrapped. With a wrinkle free, soft fabric, you don’t have to worry about your luggage getting lost with your dress in it since you can just hand carry it and steam a little to remove the wrinkles.

  1. Style must blend well with the setting

The design or style as well as the color of your wedding gown must mix well with the beach setting. Skip the ball gown and long trail because it will gather sand when you walk and you also won’t feel comfortable with a ball gown. Choose a mermaid or princess line style or a similar style with less design for it is more appropriate for a beach wedding.

  1. Pick a style that suits your body shape

You need to be aware what styles suit your body shape and from there choose what style you want your couturier to make for you. You can also check bridal shops for a gown that you can rent if you’re on a budget. There are bridal websites also that can guide you on what style to choose based on your body shape. Several clients of this London wedding photographer found the style they want from bridal or wedding websites.

  1. Find accessories that match your dress

Even with a simple dress, you can make yourself look more spectacular by choosing the right accessories. You can find a stunning necklace or pair of chandelier earrings to go with your wedding dress. With great accessories and a perfect dress, you surely will great especially in wedding photos taken by a professional wedding photographer Hertfordshire.

Remember to avoid wearing heels for your beach wedding, wear flat sandals or similar footwear instead so you will feel more comfortable moving around.

Choosing a DSLR for Wedding Photography

wedding photographyIn professional photography, there are countless types of photography that an aspiring photographer can choose from. They can go for landscape photography, sports photography or even wedding photography. The choice will usually depend on what the photographer is good at. Once the type of photography has been chosen, it is now necessary to choose the right photography equipment.

There are many photography equipment that are available in the market today.  The equipment that you should buy must depend on the type of photography you are specializing in. If you are into wedding photography, then there are cameras, lenses and accessories that can best help you produce brilliant wedding photographs.

The basic and most important in photography, of course, is a camera. The most popular type of camera nowadays is the Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR).  A lot of camera manufacturers released different models that they say are great for wedding photography. It can be confusing to pick one among the products they are offering. Thus, there is a need for you to research and carefully choose the right one.

DSLRs sometimes require a huge investment especially if you pick a specialized or high-end model. It is important to select the best DSLR so that your hard-earned money won’t go down the drain.

Here are some characteristics to look for when choosing a DSLR camera for wedding photography.

  1. Fast autofocus

There are moments in a wedding that happen really quick. You need a DSLR that has a fast autofocus so you can get high resolution candid shots especially if you are into photojournalistic wedding style.

  1. Great in low light

Some wedding venues have insufficient light and using a flash is not really a good move thus it is critical to have a camera that works well in low light situations. A good example of a DSLR camera that

  1. Huge memory buffer

Another feature to look for in a DSLR is a huge memory buffer. With a huge memory buffer, you can photograph fast even if you choose to shoot in RAW. RAW pictures are bigger and require less storage. This can slow down a camera but with a bigger memory buffer you can shoot plenty of RAW files.

  1. Lightweight

The size of a DSLR is important to some professional photographers. With a lightweight camera, it will be easier to hold it when taking pictures especially in long exposures. Holding a heavy camera can cause camera shakes thus resulting to blurry images. With a lighter camera, there’ll be less camera movement.

  1. Video-recording capable

If you are planning to take videos using your camera, then you can surely do it with DSLRs. There are DSLRs that enables you to produce high-resolution videos so make sure to check its specs and read reviews about the camera you are interested to buy. This is the feature that wedding videographer essex looks for in a DSLR.

  1. Less noise at high ISO

When shooting at high ISO, there are instances when more noise is produced thus a lesser quality photo might come out. But then, if you choose a camera that works well even at high ISO you can surely get the perfect picture you desire.

Canon 5D Mark III and Nikon D800 are two of the DSLR cameras that wedding photographers of Ben Larpent Photography love use when working on weddings. You can check out these two and other models that have the characteristics listed above.

A great camera body can produce excellent images but then keep in mind that lenses are equally important. You can have a less-pricey camera attached to a great lens for wedding photography and still get the same high resolution picture that an expensive camera can yield.

Why I Love My Thinktank Airport 2 Carry-on Camera Bag

camera bagI’ve always heard good feedback about Think Tank products but never had the chance to get my hands on one. And since, I accepted the offer to cover a destination wedding event in a different city I need to travel and bring lots of equipment. The camera bags I own at that time aren’t big enough for all the equipment I plan to bring and so I decided to buy a new camera bag.

I asked my fellow photographer surrey wedding photographer for advice and read some reviews until finally I found my ideal camera bag – the ThinkTank Airport Security 2 Rolling Camera Bag! The bag, in my opinion, is the best camera bag I ever had.  It exceeded my expectations and I would never hesitate to recommend it to other professional photographers.

Here are some of the reasons why I love my ThinkTank Airport 2:

  1. Easy to carry and fit in

ThinkTank Airport 2 Rolling Camera bag meets the requirements of most domestic and international airports for carry-ons. The bag weighs only between 12 to 14 lbs. with a dimension of 14” x 22” x 9”. Most airlines will allow you to hand carry a bag with this size although you still need to check with the particular airline before doing so.

  1. Large and spacious

The camera bag looks small from the outside but is very large and spacious inside. I was able to fit in my primary camera body and my 2 backups, 3 lenses, 1 tripod, 1 laptop, 1 flash, small items like memory cards, battery packs, and other accessories. I was really amazed because even when I’m done packing I still have extra space to add items.

  1. Numerous compartments

The numerous compartments inside my ThinkTank bag made it easier for me to organize small items so they are organized and secured. The dividers are also padded and reinforced for added strength. None of my cameras and accessories got broken or damaged since they are separated individually.

  1. Combination lock and security cable

Since we invested a lot in buying our equipment, we need to make sure they are secure from theft. My Thinktank Airport 2 Bag has a combination lock which means no other people can open it. I feel relaxed knowing that my pricey gears are safeguarded. My friend, wedding photographer essex, also feels the same way.

Moreover, it has a security cable on the rear side that allows you to securely attach your bag to an immovable object like a post. This implies that nobody can snatch the camera bag if you want to leave it someplace while covering an event.

  1. Water resistant with seam-sealed rain cover and replaceable wheels

ThinkTank Airport 2.0 bag also has a seam-sealed cover and external water-resistant covering so you can be assured that your equipment don’t get wet from rain or water. The skate style wheels are also replaceable and when I purchased the bag I got a free kit containing extra wheels which I can use when wheels wear out.

  1. Front pocket organizer

The front pocket organizer allowed me to place my memory cards, charger, and other small items neatly inside the bag. I don’t have to fumble to look for things inside the bag since I can see each one right away.

  1. Cable and lock for laptops

My laptop is secured in place because the bag has a cable and lock that keeps the laptop in place during the travel. You can be assured that your laptop won’t get damaged by shakes or thuds during the travel.

There are still a lot of other wonderful features that ThinkTank can offer you. Check out their website to know the other features. For sure, you will be thrilled to get one of these ThinkTank Airport 2 Camera bag!

My Mate Wants Me to Photograph his Wedding on an iPhone – WHAT!

wedding photographyI got a call from a mate asking me to photograph his wedding. At first I was really excited since I’m a newbie in Wedding Photography and I’d really like to apply what I have learned over the past months. But then, when he suggested that I use my new iPhone 6 instead of my professional DSLR camera to cover the wedding, I was dumbstruck since I don’t think an iPhone is enough for the job.

My friend then said that they’ll have a primary wedding photographer to shoot during their wedding and he wants me to give iPhoneography a try. He knows how I love my iPhone and how I’ve been busily taking pictures using this incredible smart phone. He even saw some and was amazed at how fantastic the iPhone images look.

To those who are not aware yet, iPhoneography is coined after the words “iPhone” and “Photography”. It simply refers to taking pictures using Apple’s flagship smartphone “iPhone”. iPhoneography is slowly becoming popular among photo enthusiasts and even professional photographers like Wedding Photographer Birmingham. The latest products Apple released last 2014 are iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

I have my iPhone 6 for 3 months now and have been using it daily. I love the accessibility and ease of use that my iPhone 6 is offering. I studied and practiced taking pictures with it and so far I am enjoying the experience.

I know some of you got an iPhone so I will share with you some tips on how to best shoot and edit images using an iPhone. I plan to use it in covering my friend’s wedding.

  1. Use camera grid in setting up your shot

The camera grid can help you best position your camera so it is set at your desired angle. The lines in the grid will serve as your guide so you can plan where to position your subject.

  1. A tripod can be your best friend

Like in DSLR, you can use tripod to help reduce camera shake when taking pictures using your iPhone. The les s shake, the sharper pictures you produced.

  1. Get close with the subject

Unlike in DSLR where you can produce nice pictures even when you zoom in your lens, with the iPhone it is best to avoid zooming and get as close as you can to your subject instead. Zooming on an iPhone produces grainy and lesser quality images.

  1. Configure your iPhone’s camera settings

Have a look at the settings of your iPhone’s camera and configure it so the highest resolution images come out from it.

  1. Clean the lens regularly

Cleaning the lens of your iPhone can help you get sharper images instead of blurry, poor quality ones.

  1. Edit images using VSCO or similar apps.

There are several photo editing apps for smart phones that can assist you in making your photos look more creative and brilliant. Among the most widely used by iPhone users today is VSCO. This app has plenty great filters and photo effects that you’ll definitely like. Even the professional photographer of Newborn Photography Calgary uses this app.

I still have a lot of preparations and studying to make before my mate’s big day so I can cover it successfully. In the future, I might consider offering my clients the iPhoneography wedding service once I can make it perfect (or closer to it).

Is Traditional Wedding Photography Still Alive and Kicking?

traditional wedding photographyCouples looking for a photographer to cover their wedding usually get confused with the many wedding photography styles presented to them. They are not sure which one would best suit their wedding theme and location. A lot of questions pop into their minds. Should they go with the traditional style? Is it better to try today’s more popular reportage wedding photography? Or choose the less common artistic style?

Which One – Traditional, Reportage, High Fashion or Artistic?

When it comes to planning your wedding, you don’t only need to find the best wedding photographer, you also need to carefully choose the wedding photography style. Each wedding photographer has his or her own style in taking pictures. Some still stay with the traditional “classic” style, others opt for the more dramatic, natural photojournalistic style like this amazing Sussex wedding photographer. The rest favor the more vibrant, artistic photography style or another emerging wedding photography form. There are also brides who choose the modern or high fashion style because it is more visually appealing.

If you prefer to see more formal pictures of you, your guests and your family, the best style to choose is traditional wedding photography. Traditional wedding photography is the most commonly used style in the past. In this type of photography, the wedding photographer calls on the couple and the guests from time to time to direct what pose to do for a particular group shot. Some people find this invasive while others find it better so they can prepare themselves before the shots are taken.

Should You Choose Traditional?

Photographers have diverse opinions on whether traditional photography remains to be an efficient style in capturing precious moments during this occasion.  Before we decide on whether traditional wedding photography is still alive, let’s dig deeper first on what this traditional style is.

Traditional wedding photography is a form of photography where the photographers aim to shoot timeless looking images of the important moments during the wedding. The wedding photographer directs the couples and guests to make sure that each photo looks marvelous. He/she even sets up the places where group or family portraits will be taken even before the wedding starts. Time and advance planning are important for traditional photographers to get the photos they are aiming for.

Traditional wedding photos are usually formal couple or group portraits. You can rarely see candid shots in this style.

Is Traditional Wedding Photography Still Alive?

Yes it is still alive! Nowadays, traditional photographers are more flexible and open to making their photos less formal. They combine some candid shots and make the photos look more natural yet dramatic.

If you really want to look good in your photos but still want the pictures to show natural joy and excitement in the faces of you and your guests, it will be best to find a photographer whose style is a combination of traditional and photojournalistic. Most experienced photographers nowadays are versatile and can take the brilliant shots that you want.

Choose an experienced wedding photographer like essex wedding photographer who really knows what style is best to use for your wedding. Talk to your wedding photographer and ensure that you agree in everything and he knows what you expect to see in the wedding photos.

Everything You Need To Know About Devonshire Weddings But Were Afraid to Ask

When you are planning your devonshire  wedding it can sometimes feel like your wishes can become second to everyone else’s. You might have your heart set on daisies while your mother is pushing for roses. Maybe you love brown and pink for your bridesmaids dresses, but your maid of honor is pushing for red. This article should help give you some tips for making sure your wedding is YOUR day.

How your complexion looks is a major factor of the wedding as you will want to reduce the amount of blemishes that you have. You will experience anxiety, so combat this by drinking more water than you usually would. This will help to flush out the toxins in your body, giving your skin a natural glow.

If you have a lower budget for your wedding, don’t include flowers in your decorations. For centerpieces you can use branches you find on a walk in the forest, and surround the containers you put them in with stones from a nearby river or creek. Make a bouquet out of local plants and flowers for a locavore touch!

When selecting a makeup artist for your wedding, be sure to see the makeup that they have done in the past. It would certainly ruin your day to have you and your bridesmaids looking harsh in makeup that does not suit the colors or the styles you have chosen. Make sure you love it. You don’t want to be stuck with a bad makeup artist.

On the morning of your wedding, you will have to give yourself extra time to get dressed since you will want everything to look perfect. Plan to start getting ready at least an hour before you usually would to avoid rushing to get to your wedding. This will allow you to look your best.

Bring a pair of fold-up flats with you to a wedding so you can dance the night away without destroying your feet. The worst thing to have on your honeymoon is sore feet, so take care of them! Book yourself for a pedicure just before you leave on your trip and include waxing to make sure you’ll look super hot in your bikini!

Whether or not to invite children to your wedding is a delicate choice to have to make. You don’t want to offend your guests by saying they must come childless, or forcing them to find a babysitter. At the same time, you don’t want kids tearing around your reception or disrupting the ceremony. If you want to have kids there, give them something else to do or another room to play in.

DON’T forget to hire a professional photographer like this Devon Wedding Photographer – don’t trust those memories to anyone but a professional!

Consider creating a gift registry at your favorite store when you are getting married. Many time, guests will buy the couple gifts that they never or rarely use. By creating a gift registry, your guests can get you and your spouse gifts that you personally want and will actually get use out of.

As stated at the beginning of the article, while planning for your wedding, sometimes your wishes are met with resistance from loved ones. Although they mean well, it is important to remember that this is YOUR wedding day. Hopefully this article has given you some great tips for tactfully dealing with everyone’s input, while keeping your own wishes first.
