This is the most traditional shot in infant portrait photography. It is where the subject is actually facing the camera head on. Just like before, take some individual shot with mom and dad carrying the baby facing the camera then you could do an all-together shot. It’s a perfect shot which you do either in standing or sitting position. It can also be set in a couch, a rocking chair or even in a swing. You just have to be careful not to slip down. Since the baby is actually facing the camera, this is the best time to take some clear macro shots.

  1. Shot facing the baby towards the parents

It’s a simple but breathtaking image of parents looking at their adorable child. Surely, no one could match the feeling of a mom having the baby inside her womb for 9 months and now finally facing him/her eye to eye.

Take shots from different angles and always remember to put some details in your shots. It is also a great pose for both parents snuggling or kissing the baby. Again do it separately with both parents and the final shot with altogether.

  1. Lying the baby down

In this kind of position photographers would be advised to lay down the baby in bed either on his/her tummy or back. Try to shot in two different ways if possible- one when the baby is awake and in the mood while the other is when the baby is completely asleep. Besides being with his mom and dad, you can also take a solo shot of the baby in this position.

The poses you do must be safe for the baby. Never try anything you are unsure of just for the sake of getting unique shots. You can still come up with brilliant newborn photos without having to perform difficult poses.
